From hobby to “oh, we’re doing this” - Update #1 (21.03.2026)

A lot is changing behind the scenes at GWO at the moment, so this felt like a good time for a proper update.
Recent drops have made it pretty clear that the current setup is being pushed to its limits in more ways than one. On the webshop side, that means I’ll be moving to Shopify, which should be a much better fit for handling traffic when drops go live. More broadly, it also confirms that the next step for GWO is backed by sufficient demand.
The biggest update is that a larger roaster is happening. The deposit for a Roest P3000 has been paid, and it should be here around the end of June. That means the jump to a much more serious setup is now properly underway.
Alongside that, I’m also working on finding the right location for a dedicated roasting space. There are a few strong candidates on the table already, and over the next weeks I’ll be working through the details and hopefully getting a contract signed.
Another big step is sourcing, and this is one I’m especially excited about. At the current scale, sourcing coffee has often been a compromise. I’ve either had to pick from whatever is available in very small quantities, make blind buys that are harder to justify and sometimes do not even get released, or rely on other roasters being willing to sell me small amounts. Scaling up changes that. It gives me more room to buy with intention and be more selective about what actually ends up on the menu. The first step in that journey is the Nordic Approach cupping in Oslo in April, where I’ll be tasting new Colombia, Kenya and Ethiopia lots.
I’ll also be launching a crowdfunding campaign around the end of April or early May to help support this next step. This has been a massive financial decision, and in a lot of ways it really is a leap of faith based on the interest and demand I’ve seen so far. I want to build it in a way that feels fair, interesting, and genuinely worth joining. It will mainly revolve around coffee, but I’m also playing with some other ideas like art prints and a few extras. I’m still working through the structure, but I’ll share more once it’s ready.
Until the P3000 arrives, I’ll keep doing drops on the L100 as regularly as I reasonably can, so there will still be coffee coming from me in the meantime. Realistically, that probably also means things may continue to sell out quickly for a little while longer. The good part is that the scaling step and the crowdfunding campaign are meant to solve exactly that in a way that feels genuinely good on both sides.
And lastly, thank you. Whether you bought a bag, shared your thoughts with me, told someone else about what I’m doing, or supported GWO in any other way, it has all mattered more than you probably realise. A lot of what is now starting to happen is only possible because people have been backing this early and taking it forward with me.
Things are starting to get very real now, and I’ll need people with me to make the next step work.
