Shit, another typical crowdfunding? - GWO Update #6 (09.08.2026)

I put a lot of effort and planning into this, and I wanted it to be different from every other coffee crowdfunding out there - the ones filled with delays and unforseen issues. But shit, here we are, late, and I’ll explain why.

The P3000 landed a month later than originally planned, and I paid nearly 7000 euro in VAT due to my application for deferment not being processed in time. It got unpacked last week, and the power cable was too short, so I had to track down a replacement, which arrived a few days later. In the meantime I started on the exhaust ducting as per the original design. Once everything was plugged in and set up on Friday, I ran some tests and measured massive back pressure blocking airflow in the roaster. Debugged it down to the filtration unit, and now I’m looking at alternatives and how to redesign the system since I dont want to risk complaints running without a filter.

Every time something pops up it takes anything from a few hours to a week to work past it. I've been putting in 70+ hour weeks between this and my part time day job trying to stay on top of things and get the last L100 drop out the door - a couple weeks ago I realized I hadn't taken a single day off in a while and forced myself to take one. I'm as eager as anyone to get this going and get you guys the coffee that's been waiting on the shelves.

Good news is the rest of the roastery is in really good shape. I spent a lot of the P3000 waiting time organizing and reorganizing, building out proper workflow zones - green storage, roasted storage, roasting area, labeling, tasting, filling, packing. Really happy with how that’s turned out.

On coffee: beyond the crowdfunding lots, I’m sitting on about 500kg of green, waiting to be dropped, and hoping to have that going live from October - which will be the first time I earn anything from this after being significantly over budget. So I'm pausing sourcing for now, since I’ve brought in more than originally planned and need to wait for them to start getting dropped first. I’ve been really happy with what I’ve found, including some surprise Panama lots I’m excited to roll out over the coming months.

On the roasting side, I’ve started profiling on the L200 Ultra. First a 100g sample roasting approach, then a 200g batch profile, a nice step up from the 150g I was doing before. Plan is to use the L200 Ultra for the really expensive coffees and the P3000 for everything else.

Still working out the exhaust solution, so I don’t have an exact timeline for backer deliveries yet. But I’m close. Once the P3000 is running and the initial dial-in is done, I’ll send backers a direct email with an actual expectation of when to expect their coffees.

Thanks for hanging around through all of this. Really looking forward to catching some tailwind and having everyone taste what I’ve been sourcing and prepping.
